In the last week of March 2024, Cratos app posted an official survey stating,
“As Naver Webtoon gears up for its Nasdaq listing in June, the global market research firm Market Research forecasts that the webtoon market will approach 74 trillion won by 2030.
With the entertainment industry based on K-Webtoons receiving positive responses worldwide at the current juncture, what areas do you believe K-Webtoons should focus on in the future?”

53.9% of respondents identified ‘Film and drama production’ as the main area of focus. This indicates that the entertainment industry based on K-Webtoons is poised to expand further.
Moreover, there was a notable interest in ‘Localization,’ with a response rate of 24.0%, emphasizing the importance of providing content to audiences worldwide with diverse cultural backgrounds.
Interest in strengthening IP(Intellectual Property) and improving the convenience of webtoon platform usage was also significant, at 12.5% and 9.6% respectively. These factors will also play crucial roles in the global growth and development of the K-Webtoon industry.
These opinions highlight the potential for the K-Webtoon industry to expand beyond mere content creation into various platforms and forms.
With boundaries blurring within the media industry, it is expected that through new forms of entertainment and technological innovation in K-Webtoons, Korea’s cultural industry will further contribute to increasing its global influence.
